First Journal Entry
“Is it still August 1st?” This is probably the most quoted phrase of the day. We woke up at four to meet at the airport, hoping to fly out of Nashville by 6:40. Unfortunately, we arrived on time to find out that our plane had been delayed four hours. No worries! We played signs and card games in the airport until it was time to go through security while John took care of all the details. He took care of us, and everything worked out-not like we wanted it to, but like God wanted it to. This was the first opportunity for our team to be together in a tough situation, and I think everyone handled it so well. Running on little to no sleep, sitting in the airport, lugging around huge bags, sitting in the airport, running through terminals, and sitting in the airport…through it all there were no complaints, only smiles and jokes and optimistic attitudes. For that I am incredibly thankful.
We hung around in Atlanta for the night, and our reward for such a trying day was the opportunity to eat at Fogo de Chao. This place was ridiculous. All you can eat meat, with service to die for. You flip over the card in front of your plate to green, and the servers begin bringing meat to your plate. They do not stop until you flip the card to red. I couldn’t exactly eat any of it, because I just had my wisdom teeth out, but I got to watch everyone fill up their plates multiple times. It was a great ending to our crazy day, and that is only the first of many. So far, nothing has gone as we planned it. It’s just another reminder for us to let go and let God.
