Anna - Day 3

Monday- “Guppy!”
Today was the first day of VBS. We had 21 kids, with 11 in the younger kids room. It was so much fun to see all of the familiar faces and to get to know the new kids that are here this week. Holly, Jeff, and I led the morning worship time, and it was so much fun to stand up there and do the dances and songs. Jeff is great at getting the kids excited and dancing for the songs. I love just watching the kids sing with us and dance with us and just make a complete fool of myself, while hanging out with them. I can’t wait to see what comes of this week, and how many more kids are going to come join us. I’m teaching tomorrow in my room, and I’m excited to see how that will happen.
Today we were supposed to start our painting job, but some things didn’t work out … so we got to go to the beach and hang out all afternoon! It was such a refreshing and relaxing time. We went to Hawks’ Nest, which has some really awesome snorkeling spots. I ended up going with the “boys”- John, Doug, Peter, and Jeff. We went to some really shallow parts, and we got to swim through lots of schools of fish and see some beautiful coral. I loved snorkeling and seeing some of God’s beautiful underwater creation. I’m just reminded of God’s power and beauty, and it was refreshing to see that yesterday.
It is also John Cook’s 40th birthday! He’s so old! Haha. We got a big card for everyone to sign and blew up 40 black balloons to put in his tent. He loved it. We also went to Lime Inn, and I had some fabulous Mahi. Then we went back to camp and sat on the beach for our group meeting under the moonlight. It was a great time of fellowship and reflection on the day and on how much John has meant to each of us. I truly have enjoyed having him in this college ministry. He truly has a sincere heart for college students, and he is a complete blessing to my life.
After the meeting, everyone went back to the campsite, except Holly and I. We just sat on the beach talking about life and everything in between. It is so extremely refreshing to have Holly here on this trip. We have truly grown closer through this experience, and I know that God has blessed my life with her in it. I’m excited to see what the rest of this week brings both of us.

  1. Hey Anna,

I'm glad that you are on this trip! I can tell this is a special trip for you and your joyful attitude will be a great contribution to this group.

I wanted to leave you with a scripture for tomorrow. You're all in my prayers!

-"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal." (Isaiah 26:3-4)
