Today was the third day of VBS. Traditionally this day is known as the “salvation” day, because the story of salvation is presented clearly to the children. Our kids were great today. They listened to the story, participated in the activities, and did just a great job. We prayed in our rooms before we started today, and I really think that helped to put our team in the right mind set. I’m so glad the kids listened so well. We had a few that made first time decisions for Christ today, which is so awesome! I feel so blessed to be given the opportunity to share Christ’s love with these kids, and it’s so exciting to see them actually get it! I’m excited to have new brothers and sisters in Christ today.
Today we also worked more on the painting job. Everyone is doing such a great job helping each other out and making sure everyone is encouraged. I’m so happy to get to hang out with these people and to serve the community together. I got to have some alone time today while painting, which was much needed. Don’t get me wrong… I love to hang out with the people on this trip, but sometimes I just need my alone time. It was great to just paint and think and just have some quiet.
We led another worship service tonight at Cruz Bay. It has been just great to worship with the church family again. They are so appreciative of us coming to sing and lead in worship with them. I’m glad we got the opportunity to worship with them again tonight.
Tonight we ate at Morgan’s Mango!! I was so excited! The coconut shrimp there is something that I have been looking forward to all summer. It was just fabulous, and our time of fellowship was wonderful, too. I love that we laugh so much when we eat together. Laughter is just a good refresher after a long day, and I have truly enjoyed our dinner times together.
Tonight was Jeff’s last night with us. It has been so great to have him on our team this summer. He is such a blessing to have with our group, and I’m so glad he got the opportunity to serve with us this week. We had a wonderful time of prayer and encouragement for Jeff tonight on the beach, and it was great to be a part of. It’s weird to think that both of us will be done with the college ministry when we get back from St. John. I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for us as we go into our “big kid” jobs and new opportunities in life.
