Hunter - Day 1
Today, the words patience and flexibility brought out a new meaning toward preparing for mission trip of this magnitude. At 4:30 am (Nashville time), John, Rene and I were on the way to the airport when Doug called and said the plane has been delayed by almost 5 HOURS. This immediately told us that we would miss our 11:30 flight out of Atlanta to St. Thomas, eventually missing the last ferry over to the island. John tried and tried and tried to get us out of Nashville some way or the other to where we would end in St. Thomas but no luck. Delta graciously presented each one of us vouchers for each meal and hotel accommodations until we land in St. Thomas. So, we are spending the night in Atlanta courtesy of Delta Airlines. We ate very well tonight at a Brazilian Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao in downtown Atlanta. I highly recommend this place to all my meat carousers. One important observation was not a single person complained all day. Each student was confident and at peace with any decision of John Cook. Tomorrow morning our plane leaves for St. Thomas. Sadly, we will miss Sunday morning services but we’ll make it in time for the evening, which means setting up camp in the dark. Please pray for safe travel tomorrow morning and everything will proceed smoothly with the evening services at Cruz Bay Baptist and setting up camp. After spending 10 hours sitting in an airport, I’m headed to bed. Thanks for the prayers. Blessings.
