Jared - Day 5
Today was a great day. This is the day we presented the plan of salvation to the kids. Jeff did an incredible job of teaching the lesson for the older kids, and Holly, as I heard, did a really good job for the younger kids. In the older kids class we passed out decision cards, and all but three of our kids were already Christians. One did not want to talk to anyone, and two (who were brothers) marked that they wanted to talk to someone. Jeff and Doug talked to one of them, and I talked to Gervon. He said his mother made he and his brother accept Christ a few weeks ago and he didn’t want to do it. I explained to him that he needs to obey and honor his parents, but this is a decision only he can make. We went through the Romans Road and before we were even done he told me that he had made up his mind – he wanted to be a Christian. This is always a blessing and an honor to be able to experience, and I am very grateful that God allowed me to lead this young man to Christ. This afternoon I finally got an opportunity to paint! I always love painting, and I was very grateful that I got to get on a ladder and paint today. There’s something refreshing and very good about doing hard, sweaty work. I really enjoy it. Later tonight at the church service at Cruz Bay I had asked John if I could share my testimony, so I did that and I really enjoyed that. I had not shared it in St. John the three years that I had gone until tonight, and that went really well I thought. Note to self: spit gum out before speaking in front of people. All through my testimony I was shifting it around and trying to put it under my tongue or in my check and it was just really awkward… haha Also, during the worship time we were all dying laughing for various reasons… someone sang “fart” instead of “heart”, I couldn’t read John’s lips while I was on the stage, the congregation sang at a different tempo, John couldn’t pronounce the guy’s name in his sermon, it was just a really funny night, and I laughed really hard! For dinner we went to Morgan’s Mango which is always amazing, and we had our meeting on the beach which was a great ending to a great day. I can’t believe this trip is over half way over… Thank you Jesus for this opportunity.
