Day 1 of VBS: “Guppy!”
In honor of my good friend Joey, I will begin my journal with the following:
Dear Journ-Journ,
Thus marks the first day of VBS. We had about 20 or so kids show up and they had quite a bit of energy. In the morning I went through the usual “Brother Friend” and “J-O-Y”s with the kids and they seemed to have a lot of fun with them. As we added sounds to the end of JOY we were starting a nice little story line of seeing a fly, whacking the fly and then being grossed out by the fly. Then I asked a little girl to do the very last sound of the song and after some critical thinking, she decided on the sound “Guppy”. Not really the sound, just the word. Kids are funny.
We’re painting a building this week for the service project but the person in charge of setting us up didn’t come yesterday so we had an afternoon at the beach. Hawksnest was the beach of choice and we all had a fantastic time. We did the usual snorkeling, talking, and flipping people into the air. John’s birthday was also yesterday (I’ll let you guess how old he is), so for dinner we all wore black (except for John) and went to the Lime Inn. The food was amazing as usual and we all had a very nice time together before going to the beachfront for the meeting of the night.
Kids are waiting for me to go school them in 4-square right now. I need to go. Peaceout.
Hey Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are on this trip! I know that you are doing a great job leading worship and that you are showing everyone the love of Christ through what you do.
I wanted to leave you with a scripture before tomorrow. You're all in my prayers!
-"I will sing of the LORD's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself." (Psalm 89:1-2)
