In thinking about our upcoming trip to St. John, I cannot help but reflect on my memories from last year. Going to St. John in 2008 was my first mission trip experience, and one I will never forget. This same time last year, God was really working on my heart in some tough areas and I prayed that He would use my time in St. John to teach me and give me direction for the following year. Well God is never one to disappoint. In working with the kids and serving the community there, God brought about peace in those areas of my life that were giving me trouble and freed me of any distractions so that I could solely focus on being used for His purposes.
Now I am preparing to return to St. John with the reminder of how God was faithful last year. It is extremely comforting to me that God can use anyone, no matter what his/her current spiritual or life state is, to reach others for Christ. All He requires of us is a servant’s heart and an obedience to follow. I am going with eagerness to learn from what He has planned for us to do there, even if we have no idea what it is yet. I’m also excited about the group we are taking this year and look forward to connecting with other students I don’t know as well. I believe that God will use them to teach me as well. Until next time, begin praying for the students and adults that we will meet on the trip. See ya in St. John!
