Rene - Day 3

What an amazing day!! We had 21 energetic kids come to VBS today. Not bad for no limited publicity. The group of students that are on this trip continue to amaze me. They are some of the sharpest kids we have ever taken on this trip. They never complain, eagerly do what is asked of them and then some, work together like they’ve know each other for a lifetime and are just so helpful. And the boys are such gentlemen….moms, you should be proud of your boys! I’m just so blessed to be a part of this great trip.

The students did an excellent job of leading all aspects of the VBS and everything went smoothly. After VBS concluded for the morning we ate lunch, changed clothes and then headed over the Parks and Rec center anticipating an afternoon of painting. Apparently that wasn’t meant to happen because our contact there was at an afternoon appointment. So we departed there and headed to the beach for the afternoon. I honestly think maybe that is just what the group needed and the Lord provided. We needed an afternoon of fellowship together and that is just what we got. It was loads of fun, with some of us staying close by the beach in the beautiful water, some kids snorkeling and others napping. And then others like Kyle Torti find ways to amuse themselves and get hurt in the process—hence the scorpion sting to his thumb. We concluded the day with a fun 40th birthday dinner for John at Lime Inn followed by our group meeting under the stars and moonlight at Cinnamon Bay Beach. Today was a great beginning to what I know will be a great week!

  1. Hey Rene,

You and John are getting high marks as usual for your service and leadership toward this group. I wanted to leave you with some scripture that will hopefully encourage you as well as the group. You're all in my prayers!

-"May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones." (1 Thessalonians 3:12-13)
