Steph - Day 3

Today was absolutely perfect in my eyes. Nothing could’ve gone better! We woke up and began our day around 630 this morning. I didn’t sleep much because my mind was racing with excitement, anticipation, and everything else you could imagine. I was also listening to all of the sounds of nature that surrounded us. We got ready for the day and met in the pavilion to have a brief time of worship and have a little meeting before heading to the church. I thought it was really cool to be able to sit around outside and sing worship songs with everyone. There were 2 ladies there doing there own thing but I saw them kind of going with the beat to the music and I thought that was really cool. After we were done with that it was off to our first day. We got everything set up while John went and got us some breakfast. I sat there for a long time looking over the lesson I was in charge of teaching the kids today. We all went out and played with the kids out on the basketball court while we waited for VBS to officially start and we played “little sally walker”. It was so funny watching the younger boys feel so awkward and try to dance when it was their turn to dance in front of everyone. Then it was time to start with worship. We all piled in the church and sang some songs and learned some dances and it was great to see most of them participate. Some of the older ones are at that age where they think they’re too cool to do things like doing silly dances and singing songs, but overall I was surprised how well the did. Then we went back to our rooms and it was our time for the bible story. I got up there and tried to do my best, a little rocky at first, but over all I thought it went pretty well. Once I sat back down I was so relieved and the rest of VBS was great! We did our craft which was a boomerang and then went outside to play wiffle ball. They all seemed to really enjoy that, I know I did. It was so fun seeing everyone playing together and “kindly” trash talking each other’s teams and just having fun with everyone. Then we came and got snack and ended with some more worship songs and then it was over. VBS was a success today in my opinion and a good amount of kids showed up and hopefully tomorrow they will bring some friends with them and expand this great group! After that we had gotten some lunch, and it was great! More fresh fruit, sooo delicious! We had changed into our paint clothes and got over to the building we were supposed to be at and found no one there, so we decided to go back and hit the beach. We got back and changed and went to this amazing beach (Hawk’s Nest). I got to go snorkeling for the first time! We swam for the longest time and it was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done! We saw a sea turtle, a shark, beautiful fish, sea urchins, the coral reefs, sting rays and the smallest little fish that were swimming in a school. It was all so beautiful and such a blessing to be able to sit back and relax for a little bit today! After the beach we headed back to wash up and go out for John’s 40th birthday. We got in our all black outfits and met at the pavilion. Then we made our way to The Lime Inn for dinner. Rene had to be the one to tell John about how we had all worn all black for him and he got a kick out of it. Dinner was amazing once again. We got back and it was time for our team meeting. We decided to go out on the beach for it, definitely a good decision! It was so beautiful at night! The moon was our own light and it was so bright! The water sparkled and the stars were amazing. We told John the epitaphs we had written for him for his birthday and re capped on the day and just talked. It was so peaceful out there. Now it’s time to sleep again and get ready for tomorrow! I hope tomorrow’s as much of a success as today was, I know it will be!

  1. Hey Stephanie,

I'm glad that you had the opportunity to go with this group! This is a great group a wonderful island to serve God.

You're posts have been uplifting and full of energy, so I wanted to keep that going and leave you with this scripture. You're all in my prayers!

-"Come and listen, all you who fear God;let me tell you what he has done for me. I cried out to him with my mouth;his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" (Psalm Psalm 66:16-20)
